Some time afterwards, Hart was kidnapped by Quinton, so Kite had but one choice team up with Yuma in a Tag Duel against Quattro and Trey to get him back.
The two of them combined managed to defeat Kite's ace monster, but he ended the match in a draw before retreating returning the soul of Shark he had claimed earlier. Kite proved to be a match against Astral, especially with the Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon, but before the duel spirit could surrender, Yuma appeared with the ZEXAL power using it to merge with Astral, much to Kite's shock.

As a result, he called the duel off and went to help his brother though not before introducing himself to Yuma.Īfter a series of encounters, Kite and Orbital actually found a way into the spirit realm where they encountered Astral with Kite quickly challenging the Duel Spirit for all of the Numbers they had gathered. Just before he would have won the Duel, however, Orbital 7 showed him a hologram that revealed Hart in a collapsed state. The two of them dueled, with Kite easily outmatching Yuma with two "Numbers" and his true ace monster, Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. Using his Photon Hand ability, Kite would steal the souls of the original owners and leaving them catatonic in the process even wielding the "Numbers" himself to aid him in collecting more of them.Īfter having obtained around eleven "Numbers, he encountered one Yuma Tsukumo, and made him his next target. Using Heartland Tower as a base, they would find and defeat the holders of the "Numbers". Heartland informed Kite that the only way to cure Hart was to obtain all of the "Numbers" cards. Some time later, however his brother began acting strangely.

There, Kite met Chris Arclight, who taught him how to play Duel Monsters in order to protect his brother though Chris eventually left after learning what had happened to his father. In spite of this, though, he still feels guilt for his actions, though he rarely imparts this information to anyone else. Thankfully, Yuma was able to snap him out of this depression, and he's returned to an aloof, if friendly disposition towards Yuma and his friends. He was, and still is, fiercely devoted to his brother's safety even being willing to break off a duel when his brother is in danger.Īfter the truth of the matter came to hand, though, and his brother reconciled with their father, Kite grew regretful for the many lives he had ruined whilst hunting for so many Numbers, and even lost the drive to Duel when he realized that with Hart cured, he really had nothing to fight for. To this end, he would keep them from escaping with his Duel Anchor, and rob them of their Numbers along with their souls with his Photon Hand both tools supplied by Dr. Before the climactic battle, Kite had a searing hatred for the Number users that roamed in Heartland, as he believed that they were the cause of his brother's illness.
To make note of something, Kite is something of a dueling prodigy making sure to not leave anything to chance, and take care of his foes strategies in advance (such as destroying their face-downs rather than blindly attacking). This, combined with the harmful useage of the Photon Transformation which would tear his body apart, means that he's far too focused on his brother being alright rather than considering how others, including himself, feels about something a rather self-destructive behavior, so to speak.
